Zeus PTFE Heat Shrink was qualified against AS23053/12 and subsequently added to the Qualified Products List (QPL) in 2019. That qualification, including full testing against the requirements of AS23053/12, was independently verified. Materials produced between the initial QPL qualification date of April 6, 2019, and the effective date of Zeus’ shipping hold on July 15, 2022, did not undergo lot-to-lot testing for each AS23053/12 requirement. Testing against the full requirements of AS23053/12 is only completed when the materials must be requalified as required by the QPL program.
Consequently, Zeus only recently discovered issues with materials not meeting the full requirements when they initiated the QPL requalification process and are unable to determine if the material met all requirements of AS23053/12.
Zeus recommends a risk assessment be conducted to determine any impact of this issue on the end-use application. To assist in completing the risk assessment, Zeus has attached specific test report data and a list of materials supplied to us, WireMasters, Inc., since 2019.
Zeus has initiated an investigation to identify and address the root cause of these test failures and is working with NAVAIR to resolve the issue.
